Le Denier Poste, The Final Post

Hello bloggers!!! This will be our last post. :(

This blog was actually a project that we had to do for science. It is suppose to help us improve our "futuristic" skills since we don't quite no what jobs we will have in the future. This also taught us how to be more creative in everything we do! :3

The preparation was very simple. All we had to do was learn how to make a blog!! We also had to have creativity because it was hard to think of what we should write or type in our blog. We also had some tips from our science teacher, the UrbanGuru.

This was a really fun project! But, everything wasn't all fun. Many times, we weren't able to meet as a complete group. It was hard, but what we were able to solve that by dividing the work to are group mates  who weren't there with us. But, we were able to let everybody cooperate with this project.

If we were given a chance to do this once again, we would definitely do it again. Blogging is simple, but apparently a very fun activity. Doing simple things, like sharing your experiences and sharing photos with people can really bring a smile to our face :).
Blogging is truly an unforgettable experience.

Does this project need further improvement? Doing all these posts and sharing it was fun. The only thing we think needs to be changed is the deadlines. It would be easier to meet during weekends. All the rest was
. . .wait for it. . .AMAZING. :D

Will we change anything regarding the project? No, this project is AWESOME and UNFORGETTABLE! It really doesn't need any changes because it was such a fun experience doing this. Anyone who tries doing this will definitely have fun!

be yourself
The most important lesson we learned from this is that doing something as simple as a blog can really inspire people to help save the world. We don't need to be some weird hippie walking on the street saying "SAVE EARTH"! We can be ourselves and still make a difference.

GOOD BYE COOL BLOGGING WORLD :( !!!

W.W.T.P.D.? ( What Would The President Do?)

! ! ! IMAGINE ! ! !
! ! !We're back with our post 5.0! ! !
By the way we're presidents. . .Just kidding!!! But, just use your IMAGINATION. . .

What would we do if there was a power crisis and the opening of the BNPP was our only solution? Although, remember those cute turtles we talked about? Well, their nesting grounds are just a few minutes drive away and opening the BNPP will affect them! Also it is just an 8 minute drive from MalacaƱang Palace. You know. . . .If there will be an "accident". OH NO!!! What will we do? End the power crisis or save the turtles?
Think of it for a while. . . . .If we open the BNPP, then the electricity will be a lot cheaper and accessible , thus,  would be our solution to the power crisis!
But if the BNPP does open, the cute little turtles will have a chance of dying. So, we say don't open the BNPP for some time. . . . THE POOR TURTLES!
But, let's remember some of the advantages of opening the BNPP. . . The electricity is cheaper and there will be more than enough energy for many. The disadvantages are, like we said, it's very near the nesting grounds of the turtles. Opening this won't be very good for them. If an accident happens with the BNPP, not only the turtles will be affected, but people in that area as well.
It's hard to decide, but we've decided.
We say "SAVE THE TURTLES."

Nuclear Energy- For BETTER? or For WORSE?

Hey awesome bloggers!!! :P Greetings here from Stroganona and FreeSpirit :D! On behalf of our group, we will be talking about how nuclear energy can help the world and can also destroy it using the same posses. Now first and foremost, what is NUCLEAR ENERGY? Nuclear energy is created by the splitting of a nucleus in an atom. This is called nuclear fission. This process can provide heat and electricity for our houses.

Take a look at this video. It will summarize the
disadvantages of nuclear energy and how we can
  solve it.

Some of its advantages are that a nuclear power plant does not give of as much CO2 as coal or oil power plants give off. As mentioned, it can provide heat and electricity for our houses, thus, you can charge your gadgets, use your computer or laptop for school work, personal use and a lot more. It can also provide electricity for malls and other places for playing and leisure. Do you know how some of the materials around you were made? By electricity! But have you ever thought about its disadvantages? Are we in favor of using this? We give it a good "YES, YES WE ARE". Simply because it can provide for many people, it can give more than enough  cheap electricity and it's eco-friendly. What more can you ask for?!
Y U No - Y u no open bnpp?

We had an awesome field trip to the Philippines' very own nuclear power power plant known as the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant  (B.N.P.P.)!

Before getting there, we obviously were expecting to learn nuclear power's advantages and disadvantages and the history of the B.N.P.P. Then we got there and, yes, we did learn its advantages, disadvantages and history. We also learned about other nuclear power plants around the world and the nuclear accidents. It was a little scary climbing all those stairs, but it was a great tour!

Star Trek! (joke!) :P
The Control Room Of BNPP

Probably, the coolest part of the B.N.P.P is the control room, because it was quite hard to believe that those tiny buttons can run a really huge power plant. And only 3 or 2 people control those buttons and levers. One press on the wrong button and pull of the wrong lever, BOOM! Disaster. But aside from that it looks like a spaceship from Star Trek :D

That's all of us leaving the power plant. XD girl in the Beatles shirt!

Till the next post!

SAVE ALL THE PAWIKANS!!!!

Man has been a huge factor in the changes in our world. If fact, the start of Industrial Revolution became the spark of environmental destruction, creating carbon-polluted air, garbage-polluted seas and worse, global warming. These changes in the world have affected not only the environment but also all those living in it, including the marine turtles.

Each second that passes by demeans the Marine Turtle population; as man hunts them for their meat and their precious shell. Man has regarded them as food and ornaments, forgetting that Marine Turtles protect us out in the sea. How so? Well you see Marine Turtles’ shells are sting-proof. Their sting-proof shells help them evade deadly box jellyfish and enable them to eat the jellyfishes. The sting of a box jellyfish can kill a man and Marine Sea Turtles are able to keep the shores of tropical beaches safe for humans. These Sea turtles are responsible for eating the sea grasses, making the sea grass beds healthy. This allows the sea grass beds to provide breeding and developmental grounds for several species of fish, shellfish and crustaceans.

But the raising of the global temperature or Global warming makes it more difficult for Marine Sea Turtles to survive. Global warming is caused by the phenomenon called Greenhouse effect. This is described as the trapping of heat due to large amounts of greenhouse gases ( cabonmonoxide, carbondioxide, etc) in the air and the unable resistance of the atmosphere from heat and radiation penetration because of the thinning of the ozone layer. Now this Global Warming raises the global temperature by a notch or two, making the ice caps in the North and South Pole melt, raising the sea level and covering the beach shores which are the breeding grounds of baby marine turtles. Not only that, since the ozone layer is thinning, the surface of the water is directly heated by the sun, causing changes in water temperature and movement. Immediate changes in the Marine Sea Turtles’ environment make it difficult for them to adapt, making a large population die.
We all say that we can do nothing about it because we are all just students but that’s not true. In fact, here are 3 simple ways on how to save the Marine Turtles:

   1.    Be a spark of change. One of the two main causes of Marine Turtle’s verging extinction is Global Warming. As a student, we can throw trash properly, reuse things and recycle trash. The simple ‘not throwing your candy wrapper’ on the streets may start you ecologically friendly existence. And also, influence your friends in doing the same thing. Collective action against global warming is the ultimate solution.

   2.    Be an Advocate. Joining groups that advocate the protection of wildlife is one great way in contributing to the fight against the second main cause of Marine Turtle’s verging extinction: Hunting. In advocacy groups, people advertise the importance of the protection of wildlife. In this way, you can influence other people to be vigilant in protecting the Pawikans.

   3.    Educate. When minds are enlightened, rational actions are made. Share your knowledge about the importance of Marine Sea Turtles and how we could protect them. The simple knowledge sharing is a good method of encouraging people to your advocacy. Let’s not forget that knowledge is power and we can use this power to conserve the Marine Turtles.

If we follow these three simple tips, we can go a long way in protecting our cute little buddies, the Pawikans!!! :D

GO PAWIKAN GO!!!!!

Hello again fellow bloggers!! Now we are going to talk about our trip to the Pawikan Conservation Center where we learned all about sea turtles, which is called  PAWIKANS here in the Philippines :) We had this field trip to know more about Pawikans and how to save them. We joined this field trip just for that. We expected to have lots of fun in an educational way. Before the field trip, Stroga Nona, FreeSpirit, CrazyLoop, Hafaw and Bob were both excited and nervous. Excited because this is going to be new and nervous because you don't know what you might incounter on the road.

Do you know how many people in the Philippines catch them for their eggs and shells? Lots and lots and LOTS!!!!! That's the reason why we went there. Stroga Nona expected to learn the importance of these pawikans. Hafaw thought to himself how such small thing can be so important to Mother Nature. CrazyLoop expected to know more about the pawikan. PCC is an interesting place to be.

When you see the entrance, you feel like your entering some kind of beach resort or something of the sort. But, you'll be surprised to see that it's so simple, no fancy things, just what they need for the job. Speaking of that, the workers their are not volunteers but people that were caught catching pawikans and their eggs. We learned about the different species found in the Philippines , like the Loggerhead turtle, Olive Ridley Turtle,  Leatherback turtle and the Hawksbill turtle.

Olive Ridley Turtle
We saw an Olive Ridley turtle in the concervation. Its scientific name is Lepidochelys olivacea.
This is its taxonomic classification:

<><> <><> <><> <><> <><> <><>
Kingdom:Animalia
Phylum:Chordata
Class:Reptilia
Order:Testudines
Family:Cheloniidae
Genus:Lepidochelys
Species:L. olivacea

Why is this interesting? Olive Ridley turtles are interesting because they can have a variable and symmetrical lateral scute count ranging from five to nine plates on each side, with six to eight being most commonly observed. Why did we choose this?  Well, simply because it is very abundant here in the Philippines and it's adorable. Look at it....SO CUTE! They have an ecological role also. They are omnivores, which means they eat plants and animals.  The five of us were able to release these adorable creatures. That was one of the best moments of our lives!!!
Not our photo. It's someone else's

Thank you for reading!!! Comment all you want :D

Life is Extraordinary

We are a group of individuals that are trying their best to save the Earth. We started with releasing turtle hatchlings and creating Eco-friendly projects. We are...

Stroga Nona, a loving and loud girl. She can be stubborn and a bit bad at math, but she is sweet, nice, and fun! She always has something to talk about. She can be a little sensitive towards her friends and classmates. Other than that she tends to smile a lot.

FreeSpirit, a small yet terrible little girl who can quite surprise you with her crazy and fun loving spirit. She is small but loves hugs. So as you can see, she isn't all terrible. She can also be very sweet and very sensitive. Wait, wait, wait, beware! Don't make her mad or else, she will freak out!!!!

CrazyLoop, a helpful curly haired girl. She loves animals and can be a little demanding but she is smart, pretty, and fun.

Bob, a quite mysterious and silent. He can be a funny person but he is very shy and only opens up to his close friends.

Hafaw is a tall, funny guitar loving person. He loves music especially Taylor Allyson Swift. He is a fast learner and he cares and loves all his friends.

We made this blog because we thought it would be fun and we would like to experience blogging since not all of us have blogged. Other than that, this blog was created to change a persons heart towards global warming and the extinction of endangered animals. We want to give the future generation a better perspective of how the world was and how it can become.
Stay tuned for our next posts!!!!!!!
